I played competitive division 1 Volleyball at LSU and the University of San Francisco as a middle blocker and later a Right side attacker. Volleyball was my 3rd sport behind track & field and basketball, so my aptitude for the technical aspects of the game was under-developed for that level of play. I was forced to learn short cuts in executing physical commands, position responsibilities, and the language of offense and defense. These memory hooks became more useful in competition for confidence and recovery from errors. After 13+ years of coaching various ages (Jrs), teaching volleyball, and learning from collegiate coaches/volleyball greats; this system has proven to improve the mistakes that plague players of all ages/skill levels. I focus on correcting the technical mechanics of each individual player, so that they are aware of how to make the changes or "Self-correct" during competition. Building an athlete's confidence in their own ability is the best coaching tool for this sport.
